Kyiv, 2024
Ukraine is at war. Yet, its cultural industry continues to expand and transform, remaining vibrant and resilient as artists, designers, writers, musicians, and other creators find innovative ways to keep their work moving forward.
This spring, I visited Ukraine for the first time and was instantly captivated by its energy. I witnessed the complex interplay of pain, love, and gratitude that coexist within a single person, carried with a mindset of deep honesty, purity, and openness.
The project aims to shed light on lesser-known aspects of Kyiv by examining how the creative scene has adapted and thrived despite the constraints of war. Through the personal stories of selected creatives from diverse fields, it explores the ways their lives and artistic practices have evolved in response to these challenges, as well as how their perceptions of life, values, time, and existence have shifted since the full-scale invasion.
